“Everything is alright with me so far” – letters from my father, a soldier of the People’s Army (LWP), to his parents as an example of perception of the surrounding reality and a record of existence in the early 1980s (1982-1984)

The aim of this article is to analyze the correspondence of Kazimierz Kartasinski, who in the years 1982-1984 served his basic military service in the People’s Army of Poland. The analysis of the letters was conducted from the point of view of four issues: the description of service, the atmosphere among the soldiers, relations with parents and personal reflections. The article also includes memories of the author of the letters, based on an interview conducted with him.
